To support our continued growth and international expansion, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager / Project Control Manager to join our Birmingham office. This is a key strategic role responsible for overseeing the financial and commercial aspects of our projects while ensuring effective project controls are in place. Position Summary The Commercial Manager / Project Control Manager will be responsible for managing the commercial lifecycle of high-value, design-led fabrication and build projects. This includes cost management, contractual compliance, project forecasting, and risk management. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders (design, production, project management) and external partners (clients, contractors, suppliers). Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all commercial activities across multiple projects, from pre-contract to final account. Monitor project budgets, providing regular cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis. Negotiate and manage contractual agreements (NEC, JCT, and bespoke contracts), ensuring compliance and protecting the company’s commercial interests. Develop and maintain project controls including schedules, cost tracking, risk logs, and change control registers. Support procurement processes, including supplier negotiation, tender analysis, and contract awards. Identify commercial risks and opportunities early and implement mitigation strategies. Work closely with project managers and department heads to align project execution with commercial targets. Prepare monthly and ad hoc commercial reports for senior management. Contribute to business development activities by supporting bid preparation and cost estimating. Assist with the development and implementation of company-wide commercial processes and standards. Required Qualifications and Experience Proven experience in a similar role (Commercial Manager, Project Control Manager, or Senior Quantity Surveyor) within construction, themed entertainment, or bespoke fabrication industries. Strong knowledge of construction contracts, contract law, and procurement practices. Experience with project control systems, financial reporting, and budget management tools. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asta Powerproject, Primavera). Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of commercial acumen. Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management, or a related field. Professional qualifications (e.g., RICS, APM, or equivalent) are advantageous.
