The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory of the Performing Arts is seeking a dynamic Director of Culture and People, to play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s human resources strategy, policies, and practices. This leadership role combines strategic vision with operational expertise, ensuring that HR efforts are aligned with our business goals and drive organizational success. The Director of Culture and People will lead and mentor a high-performing HR team, while directly contributing to critical decisions with the President & CEO and other senior leaders to achieve our long-term objectives.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; master’s or advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years progressive HR experience, including leadership roles with proven strategic and operational success; significant experience with non-profits preferred
- Experience in the performing arts and cultural industry preferred, with an understanding of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in talent management
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams and influence key stakeholders at the senior executive level; exceptional leadership and people management skills
- Strong strategic mindset with the ability to align HR programs and initiatives with goals and objectives
- Proven success in driving change within fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Strong ability to work cross-functionally and influence key decision-makers
- High emotional intelligence and strong communication skills
- Results-driven, with the ability to execute effectively on both strategic and tactical levels
- Expertise in HR technology and data analytics to support HR decision-making
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of urgency to drive results

Job Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leadership to align HR strategy with overall business strategy; ensure high performing, engaged workforce supporting company growth
- Lead development of forward-thinking talent strategies that foster organizational growth, innovation, and employee engagement
- Champion culture transformation, aligning values, employee engagement, and performance standards with business goals; lead major change initiatives with company evolvement
- Develop, implement, and continuously refine the DEI & B strategy
- Oversee long-term talent management and succession planning
- Oversee HR services, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, and learning and development
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Lead initiatives that cultivate an environment where every employee feels respected, valued, and empowered
- Champion and implement leadership development programs focused on inclusive leadership skills; ensure growth of a diverse pipeline of leaders across all levels of the organization
- Design and lead comprehensive training initiatives, ensuring employee success and growth
- Develop and implement programs to increase employee satisfaction, retention, and professional development; act as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees
- Lead the development and utilization of analytics to drive informed, data-backed decisions that impact talent acquisition, employee development, and overall organizational effectiveness
- Influence and consult with senior leaders/executive and committee members and board of directors, providing actionable HR insights and recommendations to achieve business objectives
- Spearhead large-scale organizational changes, ensuring strategies that are adaptable, engaging, and aligned with evolving business needs
