Our client, a major international shipping operator based in London, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee efficient operations for part of their container fleet. The ideal candidate will: Have sailed as Chief Officer / Captain on Container vessels (preferred but will consider other vessel types) Achieve demonstrable success in operational vessel management ashore Manage up to 10-11 vessels / voyages simultaneously Be an outstanding vessel operator and collaborative leader, balancing the needs of ship, crew, and stakeholders Note: Candidates who sailed as Second Officer but have significant success ashore, or highly experienced operators without a seagoing background, may be considered Key responsibilities include: Overseeing daily vessel operations, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, safety standards, and Charter Party terms Prioritizing safety of crew, vessel, and environment Minimizing operational costs and optimizing vessel performance Supporting Masters and Officers with clear communication and voyage instructions Addressing operational issues promptly to minimize delays Acting as the main contact between fleet and shore management, providing updates and reports Planning bunker supplies in accordance with guidelines Conducting fleet audits and performance reviews for compliance and efficiency Investigating operational incidents and implementing corrective actions Collaborating with technical, crewing, safety, and commercial departments Promoting safety culture onboard vessels Attending ships as required Additional duties: Participate in emergency/crisis management teams Stay informed of industry regulations and update fleet procedures accordingly Maintain up-to-date documentation and voyage correspondence Skills required: Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interaction and team leadership Proactive problem-solving and attention to detail Ability to perform under pressure in a dynamic environment Team-oriented, flexible, and willing to work outside standard hours Preferred: sailed as Chief Officer / Captain or equivalent experience ashore Strong understanding of container vessel operations, cargo management, navigation, and compliance with maritime standards Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Industry Maritime Transportation #J-18808-Ljbffr
