We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who wants to join our market leading consulting team which provides strategic communications to global companies within the Energy and Natural Resources sector. Our clients include listed and non-listed businesses operating across the sector including mining, oil and gas, renewable energy and clean technology. These range from global leaders, Fortune500s and FTSE100s through to start-ups and mandates can be ongoing retainers, reputational projects or capital markets transactions. We are seeking a Director to help grow our market leading Mining and Metals practice. This role will see you work closely with our mining and metals clients on capital markets and broader financial communications workstreams.
This work remains deeply ingrained in our business with extensive experience developing strategies and programmes to help build resilience as clients navigate critical reputational moments and enhance enterprise value. We address these challenges and opportunities with deep sector and capital markets expertise combined with best-in-class financial communications capabilities. Fully integrated within our broader communications disciplines, our financial communications and IR programmes are grounded in research and best practices and can be executed in any financial market in the world.
What You’ll Do
- Advising companies how to strategically and impactfully reach financial audiences at key moments, including financial results, investor days/CMDs, events and conferences.
- Developing strategies to advocate and amplify a company’s perspective to key stakeholders, including the media, investors, sell-side analysts, employees, regulators, supply chain and beyond.
- Partnering with wider account teams to ensure seamless delivery for our clients, including deliverables such as:
- Strategic communications plans
- Corporate narrative and equity story drafts
- Key messages, Q&As, media briefings, consensus tracker
- Engagement with key audiences including media, sell-side and more
- Event attendance, coordination and logistics
Team Leadership and Account Management
- Alongside Senior Managing Directors and Managing Directors play a dynamic role in the Mining and Metals team in driving new business development.
- Contribute regularly to shape team strategies to enhance and cultivate existing client relationships and to identify new clients.
- Managing account teams, team members and mentoring junior colleagues across the business; ensuring the seamless delivery of exemplary account work and key deliverables.
- Managing the development of materials by playing a leading role in drafting, editing, reviewing and finalising documents with high attention to detail.
- Interfacing regularly with clients in an advisory and executional capacity.
- Flexibility to be engaged in high-profile fast-moving situations with short deadlines.
Relationship Building and Market Leadership
- Play a leading role in creating innovative and forward-thinking thought leadership to engage a range of audiences in the mining and metals industry.
- Develop strong relationships with clients and potential clients.
- Continue to build on your proven track record of creating strong relationships with investors, analysts, lawyers and wider financial advisors.
- Grow your established network of journalist contacts.
How You’ll Grow
- You will grow your skills through day to day interaction with your colleagues and your clients, receiving continuous feedback on your work whilst sharing knowledge and insights and shared experiences.
- You will participate in FTI Consulting’s learning and development initiatives which cover multiple areas including training on financial metrics, presentation delivery and building your understanding of the media.
- FTI runs a mentoring programme enabling you to learn from leaders across the business and to share your experience with junior colleagues.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Educated to degree level or equivalent is desirable.
- 5+ years’ experience in an in-house communications or IR role, at a communications consulting firm, at a bank or investment fund focused on the natural resources sector.
- Understanding and experience in capital markets essential.
- Exceptional writing and research skills, with deep analytical capabilities to distil complex information into succinct messaging.
- Be curious about the world with depth of understanding about geo-politics, business and finance.
