Actual Salary - £17,674 - £18,390 (Full time equivalent salary £24,440 - £25,430)
Hours: 30.5 hours per week, 5 days a week, 40 weeks per year
- 08:15 until 15:40 Mondays
- 08:15 - 14:40 Tuesday - Friday
The Communication/Sign Language Support Worker role requires:
- British Sign Language Level 3
- Maths & English GCSE pass or equivalent
- Good clear Signing Skills
- Experience of working with deaf and hard of hearing people
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate well to school staff, candidates of all abilities, parents and carers
- Ability to work in an organised and methodical way with sound organisational and coordination skills
Duties include:
- To enable quality of access to information and education to meet the needs of learners
- To empower the learner through your use of a range of appropriate support strategies, encouraging the individual learner's development within educational, social, linguistic and cultural contexts
- To consider the learner's needs within their peer group context and to provide appropriate communication strategies from a range of skills, helping to facilitate successful integration into the group
- To provide access to a range of learning materials using appropriate communication methods to match the needs of the individual learner
