Junior Software Development Engineer
Preston area – minimum 3 days on site per week

Junior Software Development Engineer needed to join an established engineering firm in the Preston area.
This position is part of the Aerodynamic Toolset Development and Modelling Team, where the primary responsibility involves coordinating and advancing engineering toolsets and models specific to aerodynamics. The focus is on developing MATLAB/Simulink-based toolsets within established governance frameworks and best practices.
What the role of the Junior Software Development Engineer entails:
Some of the main duties of the Junior Software Development Engineer will include:
- Develop new Aerodynamics Engineering toolsets. Including the planning and reporting on progress of new toolset releases
- Liaising and working with Aerodynamic Discipline Teams and Projects to collate and harmonise requirements and future developments to provide a common engineering toolset
- Develop future initiatives to align with Digital Engineering framework and MBSE
- Promote and support the toolsets with the Aerodynamic Engineering Community
What experience you need to be the successful Junior Software Development Engineer:
- Experience of software development, methods, practices and version control systems.
- Experience of MATLAB/Simulink toolset.
- Experience of working with teams co-ordinating and integrating requirements.
- Knowledge of Linux systems and other software languages, Python, Java etc would be beneficial.
- Degree level qualification in a STEM subject
- A logical thinker, problem solver and an eye for detail
- Good teamworking, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to obtain UK SC Security Clearance – British Passport holders
