Overview

At Compass Associates, we’re proud to be partnering with one of the UK’s most respected and established private healthcare providers, renowned for their specialist inpatient mental health services. Together, we are seeking to headhunt a dynamic and experienced nurse leader to take on the role of Director of Clinical Services at their flagship hospital in Roehampton.

As the Director of Clinical Services, you will be accountable for the hospital’s clinical operations across a range of service lines, including CAMHS, Acute Mental Health, Eating Disorders, and Addictions. You will lead a diverse multidisciplinary team (MDT), including several Ward Managers, and report directly to the Hospital Director. The Hospital Director fosters a collaborative leadership style and does not believe in micromanagement. Instead, they are committed to equipping you with the tools and autonomy needed to shape and embed your own positive culture within the clinical workforce—enabling you to drive high standards in work ethic, clinical care, and team motivation.

In addition to leading the nursing and AHP workforce within the hospital, you will be responsible for ensuring that both your team and the hospital as a whole deliver the highest standards of care across privately funded and NHS-funded beds. You will also be accountable for overseeing all aspects of quality across care functions, which includes monitoring and embedding continuous quality improvement throughout the service. The overarching goal is to ensure regulatory compliance and, ultimately, to deliver patient care in the safest and most effective way possible.

Essential Criteria

  • You must hold a valid NMC registration as an RMN or RNLD and have the right to work in the UK. Other NMC registrations may be considered if you have experience in a similar clinical setting.
  • Experience working in comparable environments such as Acute, Forensic, CAMHS, or Eating Disorder services is essential.
  • Management experience is required. Ideally, you will currently be a Director of Clinical Services or a Ward Manager seeking to step into a more senior role. A minimum of two years' experience in such a position is necessary.
  • A proactive, 'can-do' attitude is essential. You should demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to embed a positive culture within services.

Location

Tube Access

The nearest Underground station is East Putney on the District Line. From there, it's a short bus ride or approximately a 20-minute walk to the hospital.

Located off the A205 South Circular Road, near the junction with the A306. It’s easily accessible from the M4 motorway.

Salary

Offering a highly competitive salary of up to £70,000 per annum (DoE), along with an attractive rewards package that includes subsidised meals during shifts, 33 days of annual leave inclusive of bank holidays, CIPD training and development opportunities, career progression prospects, and much more.
