The Team: Times Podcasts is responsible for designing and producing podcasts that match the breadth, depth and dynamism of The Times and The Sunday Times. The team is expanding to test new podcast ideas and to help produce a podcast portfolio that covers politics to sport. We are looking for experienced journalists to work on great new podcasts, particularly those with knowledge and experience in defence, foreign affairs and diplomacy.

Your role: As Senior Podcast Producer, you will be the driving force behind Times Podcasts. You will help lead a team of talented producers, working collaboratively with presenters, and journalists across The Times and Sunday Times to create compelling and innovative podcasts that align with the Times brand. This is both a hands-on and creative role, requiring a balance of creativity, leadership, and exceptional operational expertise in producing, scripting and editing.

Day to day you will:

  • Produce new original podcast offerings, both as stand alone episodes and serialized storytelling.
  • Devise and produce ‘always on’ regular weekly or daily podcasts covering a wide variety of issues.
  • Work on podcast productions working creatively within budgets and staffing levels.
  • Identify new opportunities for podcast growth, including audience development, and content innovation.
  • Analyse industry trends and listener data to inform decision-making and ensure content remains competitive and relevant.
  • Work closely with senior editorial to integrate podcast content into broader Times initiatives.
  • Lead the creative development of new podcast concepts, ensuring they reflect The Times style, and journalistic values.
  • Provide editorial guidance and feedback to producers, presenters, and contributors to maintain high production standards.
  • Research, script and comply material to the highest standard reflecting all aspects of media law and relevant guidelines and regulations.
  • Manage and mentor a team of podcast producers, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • You are a Senior Producer who is proactive, organised and great at working with a huge variety of people.
  • You will have a strong track record in audio storytelling ideally with production within a successful podcast, or radio programme team.
  • Video editing skills are also viewed as an asset for these positions.
  • Exceptional ability in recording and editing audio using advanced editing software.
  • Knowledge of the legal framework for journalism in UK, and industry guidelines.
  • Awareness of the issues around defence, diplomacy and foreign affairs.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong and creative ideas on how to make compelling content.
  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to react positively to change and to build long lasting professional relationships.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work closely with presenters and within a team.
