Your New Role… This role, based in Doha, Qatar, requires a technical crew member proficient in operating a variety of production equipment, including live directing/switching, audio mixing and recording, basic graphics creation/delivery, and lighting console operation. This role involves collaborating with local producers and talent, as well as remote teams in Atlanta, London, and Abu Dhabi, who are working on live shows and streams. Additionally, it involves working with engineering to maintain the studio, control room, and editing rooms. Knowledge of software-based video production systems such as Vmix or Viz Tricaster, which combine the aforementioned roles, and the ability to send vertical live video streams to multiple digital platforms is required. Experience with video over IP and NDI is advantageous. The applicant must possess a desire to learn new technologies as they are implemented and a willingness to work shifts for features and breaking news coverage. The team member must be adaptable, transitioning between roles as needed, and be prepared to work long hours in diverse environments.
Your Role Accountabilities… Directing and technical directing of live show production: This involves the operation of the vision mixer, audio board, robotic/PTZ cameras and viz graphics. Setting up, lighting and shooting video for CNN packages. Also, needs to setup and operate live equipment using both satellite and DNG equipment. Ensuring quality of both video and audio meets CNN standards. Operating Handheld camera in studio operations to support show production and special segments. Editing the linear and non-linear editing of local content, full length feature shows and other highly produced segments. Control and switch PTZ cameras for daily live streams and linear television programs. Alternating from vertical to horizontal video formats. Skilfully handle different types of cameras, lighting fixtures, audio mixers, and other production equipment as required by the shoot. Open to and accepting of new technology. Be able to quickly switch between camera operation, lighting adjustments, sound recording, and basic vision mixing depending on the situation. Set up and breakdown equipment on location or in the studio, including cabling, power distribution, and positioning of lights and cameras. Monitor equipment functionality, ensuring signal quality and addressing technical issues promptly. Work effectively with other crew members like directors, producers, camera operators, and sound engineers to execute production plans. Understand the different stages of a TV production, including pre-production planning, rehearsals, live broadcasts, and post-production.
Qualifications & Experience… Extensive experience in live television production. Proficient in non-linear editing (Final Cut Pro/Adobe Premiere). In-depth knowledge of camera operation, lighting techniques, audio recording, microwave/satellite operations, and video switching. Lighting experience in live and field environments. Experience in viz graphics operation and knowledge of Mojo equipment and mobile news-gathering techniques. Ability to quickly identify and troubleshoot technical issues during production. Clear communication skills with the director and crew for smooth production flow. Willingness to adapt to changing production requirements and take on different tasks. Highly motivated, works well under pressure, and in a team. Fluency in Arabic is a plus.
Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager.
