Affinia is a leading, UK Top 50 Accountancy firm. Through successful acquisitions and organic growth, the firm has seen significant development within the last 18 months. Last October we launched our new brand ‘Affinia’ (www.affinia.co.uk) which saw the coming together of six other likeminded firms across the East & South East of England to form a combined challenger accounting, tax and business advisory firm.
With a combined heritage spanning over 300 years, we have more than 400 accountancy professionals based in Stratford, Colchester, Chelmsford, Ipswich, Halstead, Harlow, Orpington, Sidcup and Sutton. We advise businesses, government and public sector organisations and individuals in the UK and internationally across seven principal practice groups: Accountancy & Advisory, Tax and Planning, Audit Services, Corporate Finance, Digital Solutions, Payroll and Financial Planning.
Purpose of the role: Affinia is recruiting for an Audit Senior to come and work across the group with a focus in the Not for profit and Education team where we work to deliver a broad range of audit services to a diverse range of business and Charity clients. This opportunity would suit an individual who is looking to progress their career who is part or fully qualified (ACA/ACCA).
Accountabilities:
- Planning, execution, and completion of audits reporting to managers and partners.
- Preparation of accounts and reports as well as other assignments as required.
- Co-ordinate planning with clients, including consulting with relevant departments within the firm.
- Leading on-site audit teams and completing jobs with minimal supervision, to deadlines and within budget.
- Business development including promoting the firm and its services to the existing client base and prospects.
- Review of work of juniors offering guidance and support.
- Develop strong client relationships with regular attendance at client meetings.
- Consult with financial institutions such as Banks, Factoring Companies, etc.
- Ensure quality of work and all practice procedures conform with regulations and Affinia protocols and methodology.
- Attend external events and represent the business in a professional manner.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Recent experience in Audit and Assurance within an accountancy practice.
- Experience within the not for profit and/or education sector, such as academies.
- Experience of leading external audit assignments from planning to completion stages under International Standards on Auditing.
- Experience of preparing accounts in accordance with UK GAAP and Charities SORP.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills with senior staff and clients.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office suite – Intermediate/Advanced user of Word and Excel.
- Sound knowledge of key risks applicable to specific audits and aware of own limitations and when to ask for assistance.
- Excellent organisational and time management.
- Able to be pro-active and forward thinking.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
