Sheffield City Council is embarking on the delivery of a customer led transformational Digital Strategy where in five years\’ time we will be a digital council. Last autumn we created the ICT Programme Delivery Service as an important first step of this journey. Our service\’s remit is to drive digital change across the organisation through digital self-service; a council wide delivery programme of application and technology rationalisation; and business systems replacements. We are seeking to appoint an ICT Project Manager (PM) on a permanent basis to support the delivery of the digital transformation programme. As an ICT PM you will work across one or more programme workstreams to ensure successful delivery of a range of IT and digital projects. You could, for example, be working on one of the following areas: digital customer experience, data and insight, transformed service delivery or technology and infrastructure. In your capacity as a PM you will be expected to coordinate and manage teams of specialist and non-specialists, as well as work with a range of internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for a candidate with strong PM skills, such as project planning; managing risk, issues and dependencies; and reporting confidently and accurately on progress. To be successful in this role you must be a good organiser of both your own time and other people\’s, with an ability to unblock barriers and move projects forward – we have strong emphasis on delivery! You will also need strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record in your current role (where you are in employment) in effectively engaging with and managing senior stakeholder relationships, to help ensure the effective delivery of projects Prior exposure to technical projects would be beneficial, although we would also welcome applications from candidates with more general project management experience looking to move into a technology focussed area.
