Join a prestigious international auction house in London as a Senior Specialist within the Impressionist & Modern Art sector. This role offers the opportunity to drive business development across Germany and Austria while working with exceptional works of art, including paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and ceramics. Ideal for an experienced art market professional with a strong client base in the German and Austrian markets.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Source consignments primarily from Germany and Austria to achieve departmental sales targets.
- Develop and maintain relationships with private collectors, galleries, and dealers in the German-speaking art market.
- Regularly travel across Europe to source material and expand the client base.
- Value and advise clients on the sale of artworks and collections.
- Prepare detailed sale proposals and support private sales initiatives.
- Maintain and enhance the client database for future business opportunities.
- Foster strong relationships with established collectors and trade contacts to drive new business.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to create and implement strategies for expanding market share.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to overall business planning.
- Support and mentor junior team members in developing market expertise.
- Assist in organising and participating in auctions and exhibition events globally.
- Represent the department at lectures and promotional events to enhance brand visibility.

What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in the Impressionist & Modern secondary art market with a focus on paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and ceramics.
- Background in the auction house sector, art consultancy, advisory, or gallery environment.
- Established client base and strong relationships within the German/Austrian art market.
- Fluent German speaker with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong business development and valuation abilities with a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset.
- Flexibility to travel regularly and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
