high quality solutions to 200+ global clients, including famous names such as Deloitte, Church of England, Pret, Centrica as well as various councils, universities and colleges.
We operate from our base in Maidstone, Kent from where this role will be based 5 days per week, and we service customers across the UK and globally; helping them make sense of their siloed data pools by designing and delivering reporting and analytics solutions that empower them to do business better.
Influential offers end-to-end solutions from design, inception and delivery to on-going support, and whilst we specialise in Microsoft solutions, we also support customers using IBM, SAP and Boomi technology sets.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior BI Engineer to join our dynamic data solutions team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data integration technologies such as Azure Data Factory or SSIS, coupled with a passion for developing their expertise in the Azure ecosystem, including Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric.
This senior role will play a critical part in shaping and advancing our business intelligence capabilities by designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and BI solutions to support data-driven decision-making for our customers.

Primary Responsibilities
- Data Integration and Pipeline Development:
- Design, develop, and manage data integration processes and ETL pipelines using tools like Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or similar technologies.
- Ensure seamless data flow between various on-premises and cloud-based systems.
- Data Modeling and Warehousing:
- Develop and optimize data models to support reporting and analytics needs.
- Design and maintain efficient data warehouses, leveraging Azure Synapse Analytics or similar technologies.
- Business Intelligence Solutions:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver insightful, actionable BI solutions.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI or other visualization tools.
- Azure and Emerging Technologies:
- Expand and apply knowledge of Azure\’s growing toolset, including Microsoft Fabric, to enhance the organization\’s BI capabilities.
- Explore and recommend innovative solutions to improve data processes and analytics.
- Performance and Quality:
- Monitor and optimize data processes for performance and cost-efficiency.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security in all BI and data solutions.
- Collaboration and Mentorship:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, data scientists, and IT professionals, to deliver comprehensive solutions.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
Key Requirements
Required Skills
- 5+ years of industry experience with data engineering and data modelling across multiple complex domains.
- Experience in using BI reporting tools including Power BI
- Experience working with cloud data warehouses such as Azure or AWS.
- Experience in implementation of ETL processes, data pipelines, data structures using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Boomi, Logic Apps etc.
- Experience with at least one programming / query language (e.g. SQL, TSQL, Oracle PL-SQL)
- Proven experience working with APIs to connect to enterprise applications and databases
- Good understanding of core business processes.
- Knowledge of software architecture and design (patterns, reliability, scalability, quality) of complex systems.
- Analytical thinker and team player, a self-starter, willing to take responsibility for problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbally and written, to all levels of management, and externally.
- Excellent collaborative skills, ability to work with others to deliver to specification.
Experience:
- At least 5+ years of professional experience in BI engineering, data integration, or related roles.
- Demonstrated success in delivering end-to-end BI solutions that drive business impact.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach to learning and innovation.
Nice-to-have Skills:
- DBA experience
- Defining and measuring data quality
- Knowledge of testing and use cases
- Atlassian suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Azure Data Engineer Associate or similar credentials.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and a willingness to deepen expertise in this area.
- Experience working with Agile development methodologies.
