The Marketing Executive supports the successful execution of PLOS’ marketing strategy, contributing across campaign delivery, event coordination, and marketing operations. This role is instrumental in delivering engaging marketing initiatives that reflect our brand and values, while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. With a hands-on approach and strong organizational skills, the Marketing Executive collaborates cross-functionally to ensure a range of marketing activities are well-coordinated and effectively executed, ensuring the effectiveness of campaigns and events, and advancing PLOS\’s mission to make science open and accessible to all. Responsibilities Marketing Operations Assist in the execution and coordination of campaigns, including email marketing, display advertising, and web content. Support the production of marketing assets such as marketing collateral, presentations, multimedia and digital content. Help coordinate webinars, sponsorships, and other similar marketing-led initiatives. Ensure marketing and event activities align with broader business goals through collaboration with key stakeholders. Able to digest information and campaign needs and deliver to clear brand guidelines with a creative eye. Event Coordination Research and book exhibition stands and participate in activities relevant to our attendance at industry conferences and trade shows. Coordinate logistics for all events, including administration, collateral and promotional material, stand design, set-up, shipping of event materials, and dismantling. Liaise with conference organisers to ensure all requirements are met and deadlines are adhered to. Collaborate with PLOS departments, including Marketing & Communications, Editorial, and Sales to align event participation with strategic objectives. Track and manage event budgets to support cost-effective decision-making. Collect feedback and prepare post-event reports to evaluate outcomes and suggest improvements. Knowledge and Skills Strong organizational and project management capabilities. Confident and clear communicator with experience liaising with multiple stakeholders, internally and externally. Familiarity with supplier management, budgeting, and event logistics. Proactive and detail-oriented with a practical, hands-on approach. Proficient with digital tools and platforms (e.g. web CMS systems, HubSpot). Use of non-Adobe design tools such as Canva would be beneficial. Interest or experience in multimedia and design coordination is a plus. Capable of managing routine coordination tasks and contributing to independent marketing projects. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think quickly and adapt to changing circumstances, often managing multiple projects simultaneously. Team-oriented with a collaborative spirit, capable of working both independently and with cross-functional teams. Proven experience in event coordination, logistics, sponsorship or similar roles. Experience of digital marketing and CRM platforms, content management systems. Qualifications N/A Physical requirements and work environment Occasional national and international travel will be required. Flexibility to support events outside typical working hours when necessary. Prolonged periods stationary at a desk and working on a computer. Some flexibility to work across time zones. SALARY: The base salary range we’ve established for these positions is (UK) £35,000 – £47,000. PLOS also offers a comprehensive benefits package summarized below.
