THE ROLE:
As the Head of Live Technical Projects, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of all technical (this is not an IT role) aspects of BladeRoom\’s data centre projects. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and client-facing skills. You will ensure that live projects are executed with precision, on time, and in compliance with BladeRoom’s high standards.
You will coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders, manage client relationships, ensure technical compliance, and mentor the commissioning team. As a key figure in the delivery of our cutting-edge data centre solutions, you will drive excellence and continuously improve project execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Leadership: Lead the technical delivery of multiple live projects, ensuring that all technical, design, and regulatory specifications are met, while managing both internal and external project resources.
- Technical Coordination: Oversee the planning, design, and commissioning process, working closely with design engineers, procurement, and subcontractors to ensure seamless technical implementation.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the main point of contact for the client on all technical matters, maintaining clear communication and managing expectations. Build strong relationships with clients and internal teams to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide the commissioning team, and collaborate with internal departments to ensure that live project teams are fully prepared for each phase of the project.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of work delivered by the commissioning teams meets BladeRoom’s high standards. Lead and conduct technical QAs and inspections as required.
- Compliance and Safety: Oversee compliance with regulatory standards, health and safety procedures, and BladeRoom’s operational standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Programme Development: Collaborate with internal departments to create detailed technical programmes, monitor progress, and proactively address any delays or challenges.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks to ensure smooth project delivery. Resolve any issues quickly to keep projects on schedule.
- Continuous Improvement: Take the lead on identifying process improvements, implementing best practices, and ensuring lessons learned are documented and shared across teams.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
KNOWLEDGE:
- BEng in an appropriate engineering discipline.
- Desirable: MCIBSE/MIEE/IMechE Professional Membership or equivalent accreditation.
EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ Years’ Experience in data centre engineering, ideally at Senior Engineer level or above.
- Proven leadership experience in delivering live technical projects, specifically in the data centre sector.
- Strong track record in client engagement, ensuring satisfaction through effective communication and technical delivery.
- Experience with compliance: Knowledge of data centre mechanical and electrical design standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- In-depth understanding of the full project lifecycle, from design through to commissioning and post-delivery support.
