Residential Property Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive

Due to continued growth and a significant increase in the level of new enquiries, John Hodge Solicitors are looking to recruit an experienced Residential Property Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join our well-established team across Bristol and Somerset. The successful candidate will benefit from working alongside two experienced Partners and a friendly and supportive team where each individual is encouraged to strive to fulfil their individual professional development goals, within a CQS accredited firm who put the needs of their client’s at the heart of what they do.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assisting the Partners with the supervision of more junior lawyers within the Residential Property Department;
  • Assisting the Partners with marketing initiatives and business development to raise their own profile and that of the Residential Property Department;
  • Running their own busy caseload with a wide variety of residential property work, such as: freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, first registrations, remortgages and transfers of equity;
  • Regular client contact, including face to face meetings;
  • Tailoring advice and skills to act in each client’s best interests;
  • Making the best use of the available resources and administrative support to ensure that all client work is progressed expeditiously as possible, and that the client is kept regularly informed on progress;
  • Having overall responsibility for the day-to-day cash management on own matter balances with support from the experienced cash office team;
  • Maintaining electronic and physical files so they remain compliant and up to date;
  • Preparing correspondence and documents through the use of Microsoft Office;
  • Ensuring the confidentiality and security of all client documentation and information on all matters.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ PQE;
  • Evidence of CPD including AML training;
  • Have recent knowledge and experience of managing their own caseload and seeing a matter through from inception to conclusion within a busy Residential Property Department within the legal sector;
  • Have strong communication and client care skills to ensure our clients receive an efficient, reliable and friendly service over the telephone, in written correspondence and face to face;
  • Demonstrate initiative and be flexible and proactive in their support to the Department and the wider office team;
  • Have strong organisational skills to manage their own workload and diary;
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and have excellent typing skills;
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a Case Management System;
  • Be a team player but also be able to work autonomously;
  • Be passionate about law and have a strong work ethic;
  • Be available to work Monday-Friday 9:00-17:15 and Saturday Clinics 9:00-13:00 on a rota basis up to 4 times a year;
  • Have a full, clean driving licence.
  • Profit-Related Pay on top of Basic Salary;
  • Hybrid working if 5yrs+ PQE and have 8 years of experience within Residential Property Law;
