This role is well suited to seasoned payroll professionals, or Bookkeepers with strong competency in payroll. Payroll Manager Job Overview Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients across various industries. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of fortnightly, and monthly payrolls. Monitor and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and current payroll legislation. Manage payroll elements such as starters, leavers, holiday pay, pension deductions, and statutory payments (SMP, SPP, SAP, SSP). Prepare and submit RTI submissions, P45s, P60s, and year-end reports. Oversee pension auto-enrolment duties and liaise with pension providers. Respond to payroll queries from clients and resolve discrepancies effectively. Maintain accurate payroll records and update internal systems. Manager set up and closure or PAYE schemes Liaise with the accountancy team and external bodies, including HMRC. Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices. Record time accurately on timesheets Payroll Manager Job Requirements Proven experience in payroll management, ideally within an accountancy practice. Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance. Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, Xero). Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Strong communication and client management abilities, including intermediate proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. CIPP qualification (desirable but not essential).
