Direct Line Group (DLG) has created a new Chief Controls Office (CCO) within the first line of defence as part of a group-wide risk and control transformation programme now in its second year. This provides a unique opportunity to be part of a skilled risk professional team that is redeveloping the end-to-end risk and control framework, including launching new RCSAs, control testing, a new integrated risk management system, and rebuilding risk management capabilities across the first line to foster a robust risk-aware culture within DLG. What you\’ll be doing: Provide risk and control management expertise to identify and assess risks and issues in your business areas, ensuring these are escalated and recorded in line with the Risk Management Framework. Support the design of suitable actions to manage risks within the business risk appetite. Support key activities including the RCSA process, helping the business understand their control environment, risks, and driving a culture of action planning and remediation. Contribute to effective Issue and event management through governance, root cause analysis, control identification, and remedial actions to support positive customer outcomes. Conduct trend analysis across risk and control areas, identifying key actions. Support deep dives into root causes of issues and control failures to strengthen the risk environment and protect outcomes. Understand relevant risk appetite statements and KRIs, ensuring these inform risk and control assessments. Maintain a proportionate approach to operational risk management, supporting strategic goals and compliance with standards. Engage proactively with business areas for risk management support, emphasizing business partnering and stakeholder management. Work independently with business units to influence risk identification and management, providing robust challenge as needed. Support the accuracy and embedding of Workiva (risk system) and data inputs. Be aware of audit and testing assurance programmes, supporting the Control Testing Team and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards. Support the wider Chief Controls Office to achieve its vision. Location and Working Model: Our hybrid model offers a \’best of both worlds\’ approach. When you\’ll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office. This role is flexible regarding location but can be based from London, Leeds, or Glasgow. What you\’ll need: Understanding of risk and control management principles, a strong conduct and risk culture, and good governance. Ability to communicate effectively and support the business in understanding risk management\’s importance. Skill in reviewing information to assess urgency and severity, with appropriate escalation. Knowledge of the three lines model and roles of business, Risk & Compliance, and Internal Audit. High-level understanding of regulatory bodies and legislation relevant to the insurance industry. Strong stakeholder relationship skills across all levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to interpret and adhere to policies and procedures. Resilience and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
