Technical Trainer (Part-Time) | Volkswagen Group National Learning Centre
The Volkswagen Group UK National Learning Centre is the UK’s largest automotive training facility. Located in Milton Keynes, the centre is home to the Group’s training operations, developing our base of 26,000 retailer learners in the UK. Calex is the supplier of learning services, working in partnership with Volkswagen Group UK.
The role
When Technicians require the latest training and technology updates, it’s our Technical Trainers that provide them with what they need. Whether it’s from the minute learners walk through the door of the National Learning Centre or logging into their Virtual Classroom live in their Retailer, trainers deliver the skills and knowledge required technicians to do their job to the best of their ability, inspiring them to be the best they can be.
We are looking for trainers to:
- deliver core technical and project-based training programmes, via a range of mediums including attended classroom and workshop sessions, virtual classroom, and film / live broadcasts
- develop new materials for the delivery of new Model Launch courses as well as keeping current material up to date
- Attend Volkswagen Factory branded events and Products Launches
About You
Our ideal Technical Trainer will:
- hold a relevant technical qualification such as City and Guilds 1,2,3 or a National crafts certificate
- have a good level of technical knowledge in particular around vehicle electrics and vehicle diagnosis
- have an embedded passion for the automotive industry
- have the ability to manage their own time
- be engaging and inspiring

Salary & Benefits
£37,000* if you are new to training with an increase on the successful completion of probation.
Up to £39,270* for Service Trainer
Up to £40,290* for Diagnostic Trainer
Up to £42,000* for Senior Trainer
Up to £43,860* for Master Trainer
*Pro rata salary depending on part-time hours
Experienced trainers will be aligned to the appropriate level from day one.
Plus a car allowance of £328.50* per month (£3,942 per year).

In addition, we will invest up to £10,000 (for new technical trainers) in your personal development within the first 18 months of employment, to include:

– IMI Assessor Accreditation

Pre-employment Checks
Calex will undertake the relevant/standard employment checks with any successful candidate. This includes contacting all nominated references, as well as checking candidate ID, driving licence (if appropriate) and right to work in the UK. Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks (confirmation will be provided through the recruitment process). The nature of this role may necessitate that we undertake a DBS check.
Employment
The successful candidate will be employed by Calex UK (www.calexuk.com). Calex are a specialist automotive training provider and provide training staff and expertise including Trainers, Developers, Digital Learning Experts, and Administrators to Volkswagen Group UK. The successful candidate will join an established team, at the VWG National Learning Centre in Milton Keynes.
Place of Work
VWG National Learning Centre (NLC), Wymbush, Milton Keynes. There will also be times when it may be necessary to work from alternative locations such as (but not limited to) Calex offices, alternative VWG facilities and retailers, and other sites as necessary to perform the role, including international training venues in Germany, Spain or the Czech Republic.
The NLC is a modern training facility with an onsite restaurant serving a choice of three different hot meals each day, it also benefits from an onsite deli bar and Starbucks café.
The NLC offers free onsite parking for delegates and staff.
