The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Technician to join our team at Damhead Creek. In this role, you will support the Production Team Leader in all production-related activities while ensuring the power station operates efficiently and safely. You will play a key role in monitoring and operating the station in line with energy management requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plant safely and efficiently.
- Support the Production Team Leader in all operational activities.
- Diagnose and resolve plant-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and Environmental Protection Act.
- Implement company policies and procedures related to station operations.
- Carry out operational routines, plant testing, and maintenance activities within competence.
- Manage and supervise contractors on site.
- Conduct self-audits on Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance and complete behavioural audits of contractors and staff.
- Communicate with National Grid to ensure compliance with REMIT and load profiles.
- Assist in driving operational improvements and efficiency initiatives.
What we’re looking for
- Minimum Apprenticeship/ONC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- At least 2 years’ experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a CCGT plant.
- Strong technical knowledge with the ability to optimise plant performance.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Proficiency in computer systems and control software.
- Ability to support electrical, mechanical, control, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work.
- Excellent teamworking, communication, and time management skills.
