The Role
As a System Engineer, you will have an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference to the UK's Armed Forces, and will give you the chance to grow your skills and knowledge in an area of Systems Engineering that deals with some of the latest technologies being utilised by the Royal Navy. Day-to-day, you'll play a major role in the development and sustainment of maritime systems for both the Royal Navy and overseas navies. You will work as part of a team that provides the necessary combat systems engineering advice and other services covering the entire system life cycle from capability management and requirements engineering through to system in-service support and ultimately disposal. In this role you will also have the opportunity to travel overseas to support on external supplier testing and trials, as well as sea trials on board Royal Navy ships.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Executing key systems engineering activities on significant projects
- Engaging with external and internal stakeholders to ensure customer and business needs are satisfied and issues are mitigated
- Performing one or more of key systems engineering activities (e.g. requirements engineering, system design, operation and support)
- Contributing to technical documentation in support of the work carried out
- Delivering work and reporting on progress to project leads and customers
- Understanding and applying relevant regulatory, safety and technical standards to work and support compliance
Essential experience of the System Engineer:
- Relevant experience in an aligned engineering field
- Proven experience in Maritime Systems, or; Radar, Sonar, C2 or Weapons
- Experience in Test & Evaluation or Integration
Essential qualifications for the System Engineer:
- Honours Degree in Engineering, Physics or similar. HNC/D Level qualification is acceptable if accompanied with appropriate experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Bristol or Portsmouth site. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other company and customer sites will be expected. Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
