Job Purpose: Providing support for Fire Door and Compartmentation activities as a Subject Matter Expert for EMCOR UK. Engagement with Supply Chain Partners for inspection, remedial, project, and installation works. Evaluating competency of those self-delivering Fire Door Inspection services and remedial works. Adopting the role of Approved Person under a UKAS accredited scheme.
Duties:
- Achieve and maintain UKAS certification in Passive Fire Protection for EMCOR Fire & Security and participate in compliance audits.
- Assist Fire & Security Director in identifying approved Supply Chain Partners for inspections, remedial works, and projects across the UK.
- Support Account Managers and Directors in implementing compliant fire door and compartmentation inspections.
- Validate inspection failures, engage with SCPs, and support remedial scheduling.
- Participate in site reviews and meetings, providing input and guidance.
- Utilize expertise to advise account teams, customers, and relevant parties before project works and assist in quotations.
- Provide expertise during remedial and installation projects, review, and sign off works.
- Develop and maintain procedures in accordance with fire safety legislation.
- Assist in expanding fire door inspection scope within the division.
- Assess and audit the competency of Fire Door Inspectors.
- Manage passive fire safety records and certifications.
- Stay informed on emerging fire safety legislation and standards.
- Act as a SME on Fire Doors and Fire Compartmentation, advising EMCOR’s Compliance Teams.
- Support project teams to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Build internal relationships and foster collaboration.
- Assist in quotations, tenders, and business development activities.
- Support operational requirements of the Fire & Security division.
Responsibilities:
- No direct reports initially, potentially up to 3 after 12 months, supporting up to 20 Fire Door Inspectors.
- Responsible for sign-off of certification under UKAS accreditation and control of SCPs.
Person Specification:
- Strong knowledge of UK fire safety laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of Building Safety regulations, especially Approved Document B.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Passive Fire Protection, inspections, remedials, and project management.
Qualifications:
- FDIS Cert FDI, BM Trada Lead Auditor, or equivalent.
- Experience as an Approved Person is advantageous.
- Fire Safety certifications such as NEBOSH Fire Safety or CFPA Europe Diploma are advantageous.
- Membership in fire safety professional bodies is beneficial.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work with customers, regulators, and fire engineers.
- Attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Other Factors:
- Willingness to travel and stay away occasionally across the UK.
