Casablanca is seeking a Knitwear Designer to work closely with the Head of Knitwear, supporting the entire design process from concept to completion.
Job Overview
This role would focus on maintaining alignment with the brand’s vision. Gaining a deep understanding of the brand\’s consumer and core values, ensuring designs resonate with the target audience. Conduct insightful, creative, and well-researched exploration based on the seasonal theme to inspire and inform the design process.
The role
- Yarn research and sourcing.
- Original hand sketching, photoshop mock ups and creating CADs to complete and brief tech packs.
- Briefing and launching swatch requests direct to factory.
- Follow communication with factories to complete protos/sms ensuring product deadlines are met.
- Lead fits in partnership with Head of Knitwear & Product developer. Ensure clear notes are made so garment meets Creative Director’s vision.
- Constantly update moodboards, fit boards and linesheets.
- Work closely with merchandising team for commercial product requests.
- Work closely with art team to brief initial concepts and adapt artworks to suit knitwear development.
- Support production of collection by reviewing all sms with productions team. Ensuring artworks, colours and major change between SMS and Production sample are confirmed and validated by Art Director / Creative Director.
- Travelling when necessary for yarn fairs, factory visits and PFW representing the brand to a high standard.
- Mentoring and managing the assistant / intern, assigning projects and duties in line with the deadlines, and workload of the rest of the team.
The candidate
- Bachelor’s Degree in Knitwear Design.
- 3-4 years experience as Knitwear Designer Level.
- Understanding of garment specifications and technical knowledge used for improving communication between supplier and production.
- Proven tech pack/spec sheet proficiency with great understanding of Illustrator.
- Understanding of knitwear and luxury design cues.
- Self-motivated, positive work attitude, attention to detail and strong sense of responsibility.
- Proven ability to combine conceptual, creative and strategic thinking.
- A strong drive and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, efficiently managing multiple projects at various stages while meeting tight deadlines.
