Murray McIntosh is pleased to be partnering once again with the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) to recruit a Policy Manager for a key permanent position within their policy team. The BBPA is the leading trade body representing UK brewers and pubs. With environmental sustainability rising rapidly up the industry and political agenda, this role offers the opportunity to help shape national policy and support one of the UK\’s most iconic sectors in its transition to a more sustainable future. The Role As Policy Manager focusing on sustainability, you will lead the Association\’s work on environmental policy and regulation. You will advise members on issues including Net Zero, packaging waste reform, and corporate responsibility, while also representing the BBPA in discussions with government, industry bodies, and external stakeholders. This is a strategic and externally facing role with a strong focus on policy development, member engagement, and some public affairs work. Key Responsibilities Develop and communicate BBPA policy on key environmental and sustainability issues Draft responses to government consultations, position papers, and briefing notes for members Manage member working groups focused on sustainability policy and initiatives Represent the Association in external meetings, industry groups, and stakeholder discussions Support members with interpreting and complying with environmental legislation Work with the sector\’s Zero Carbon Forum to support Net Zero targets Collaborate with external consultants and providers of environmental services to deliver added value to BBPA members Create guidance materials, case studies, and communications showcasing sector progress Maintain sustainability content on the BBPA\’s digital platforms Support the communications team in promoting policy priorities and member achievements Person Specification We are looking for a confident, knowledgeable, and proactive policy professional with strong environmental expertise and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. Essential skills and experience: Experienced in an environmental policy, public affairs, or sustainability-focused role Writes and speaks with confidence and ease Strong research and analytical capability In-depth understanding of UK environmental legislation and regulatory processes Relationship-builder with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable working in a digital environment Enthusiastic, flexible, and a collaborative team player Closing date: 23rd June 11:59pm.
