This post is also suitable for a Band 5 transitioning to Band 6 on completion of training and competency to deliver MSK out-patient services within University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. The physiotherapy MSK outpatient service for Plymouth and South Hams (Kingsbridge and Tavistock) is hosted by the acute trust but provides the service at various locations across the city. This post will be static at Tavistock Hospital, Tavistock. However, the post can rotate through all other UHP MSK clinical sites if there is a service need at both at Derriford hospital and peripheral sites, women’s health, spinal follow up, rheumatology, hydrotherapy, hands, fracture clinic and pain management. The successful candidate must have a broad range of post graduate experience including general MSK Outpatients and Orthopaedics, knowledge of neurology and respiratory care would be an advantage. The successful candidate will join this well-established service to support, deliver, develop and promote this service. You will be given opportunities to develop both your clinical and managerial skills, through CPD, staff supervision, mentoring and in-service training. Main duties of the job To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of MSK / outpatients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a clinical diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme. To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for the management of MSK / outpatient clinical and administrative services, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
