We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician who will be able to make a strong contribution to this high performing team and culture within Meadow Fresh Christchurch. You will be responsible for performing a range of tests and analysis on products produced, taking responsibility for the communicating, and addressing of needs both within the Lab and for our customers. Along with this you will ensure testing follows the required procedures stipulated within the Laboratory quality systems and procedures. This is a 12 month Fixed term role. Key accountabilities of the role include: Perform routine product analysis and assist in the daily operation of the Laboratory. Report formally with clear and concise report writing and be able to communicate with a range of staff at various levels. To communicate with production staff with regards to sampling and test results. Notify Production Managers of critical process or product non- compliances as soon as possible. Assist with additional testing and trace back work where required. Ensure that chemicals and equipment are handled and used correctly. Assist in identifying and correcting potentially hazardous practices or conditions Participate in organising and performing project work. Writing up and reporting and checking results. Where appropriate, under the training system, train staff to ensure that they produce accurate results using consistent techniques. Shift Pattern:Rotational shifts- 3 days on, 2 days off. Start times between 5am – 8am. 10 hour shifts About You To be successful in your application, you will have: Tertiary qualification in chemistry, microbiology, or food sciences (desirable). Food industry manufacturing experience. Dairy Industry or IANZ Laboratory experience advantageous. Strong understanding of chemistry/microbiology and Laboratory techniques, preferably those used in dairy product analysis. Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
