6 months contract with local authority
Based within the Early Help Service part of the Starting Well directorate ; Havering Youth Influence and Participation Service work with children and young people aged 10 – 18 years (up to 25 years with Special Educational Needs).
The team deliver both open access and targeted youth work sessions from the MyPlace Youth and Community Centre in Harold Hill, the Council’s flagship multi-million-pound youth and community centre as well as other community venues. The team hosts the Children in Care Youth Club, Youth Parliament, a SEND provision and coordinates trips and activities for young people in the borough. There is a detached youth work offer, which takes place in known "hotspots" across the borough. 1 to 1 targeted casework is completed with young people who are at risk of exploitation to reduce risk factors and improve their confidence.
The team has a key role in shaping co-production and ensuring the voices of young people are heard and their views inform service delivery.

As the Youth Influence and Participation Coordinator for children in care, you will;

be responsible for the development of the Children in Care Council

Deliver on Havering’s Pledge for Children in Care

be expected to undertake youth work sessions with care experienced children and young people

Develop and deliver workshops / training

Organise events and activities all led by the views of Children in Care

Develop trusted relationships with children, their carers, Social Workers, Senior Managers, and Lead Members.
You will need demonstrable experience of leading children and young people in engagement and participation activities, and be a champion of coproduction.
