A professional Oral Historian is required to gather, record and document oral histories from Piccadilly Radio former staff and listeners to help contextualise the Piccadilly Radio collection of radio shows currently being digitised at Manchester Central Library thanks to National Lottery Heritage Fund support. This post is advertised on a freelance basis, with the work to be completed between July and November 2025. Main duties and responsibilities • Collect at least 10 oral histories from staff and listeners, with an additional 10 “vox pops” • Work with the Project Manager and Piccadilly Alumni to arrange oral history interviews • Keep a tracking sheet of interviewees and interview details • Attendance at key project events to gather “vox pops” and encourage oral history participation • Create required documentation (information sheet and recording agreement) and ensure all appropriate documentation is completed by interviewees • Work with the Project Manager to create briefs for volunteers who will help to summarise and clip the recordings for re-use. This is a Freelance contract with a maximum budget of £7,000. HOW TO APPLY.
