The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager to join their Transformation and Change team, specifically within their Payments Portfolio. This is a pivotal role for a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, ready to drive complex, high-impact projects that define their payment offerings. You will be instrumental in delivering key initiatives that support their strategic growth and reinforce their position as a leader in digital banking.

What You'll Do

  • Full Project Lifecycle: From scoping and business case through execution, deployment, and benefits realization.
  • Payments Expertise: Lead projects across core processing, payment gateways, card schemes (Visa, Mastercard), and new payment solutions.
  • Cloud Transformation: Manage projects for payment system migration/development on cloud platforms, ensuring scalability and security.
  • Regulatory Change: Deliver regulator-driven initiatives, ensuring compliance (e.g., PSD2, Open Banking, SCA).
  • Governance & Reporting: Provide robust oversight and clear reporting to all stakeholders.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks and issues using RAID logs; manage change control.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with product, tech, compliance, and operations, fostering collaboration in a matrixed environment.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years as a Project Manager in Banking or FinTech, leading complex projects.
  • Hands-on experience managing payments projects, focusing on core payment infrastructure, processing, gateways, and various payment methods (e.g., Faster Payments, SEPA, SWIFT, real-time payments).
  • Solid experience leading projects involving cloud-based solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge of card schemes (e.g., Visa, Mastercard), card issuance, and related regulatory aspects.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects driven by significant regulatory changes.
  • Experienced in managing projects end-to-end, including budgeting, scope, and risk.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience interacting effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of project methodologies (Waterfall, Agile), with Agile experience being highly desirable.
  • A self-starter with a customer-focused mindset.
