The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 Β£ per year.
Reporting to the Injection Moulding Manager, the Machine Setter is expected to manage the injection moulding machine setup and changeover process. This will include the setup, changeover and TPM of machines as well as ensuring that work is undertaken to the company H&S and quality standards, whilst proactively identifying areas for improvement. Within their respective shift they will support and lead the machine minders and when working shift patterns where the Manager is not on site, co-ordinate tasks with the Supervisor as well as tend machines to maintain production targets.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead changeovers of tooling and ancillary equipment on shift: Co-ordinate and lead the changeover of tooling on shift ensuring that machine waiting time for changeover is minimised.
- Set-up machine, ensuring first-offs and product checks indicate compliance with quality standards for full production run: Tooling setup within machines in an efficient manner and product produced that meets specification.
- Undertake TPM on machines to schedule: Ensure allocated TPM are completed as required, minimising potential downtime.
- Record setup details and process adjustments, highlighting changes required to standard instructions: Ensure setup and process settings are updated accordingly so ensuring production and quality standards are maintained.
- Ensure tooling is left in production state when removed and record and highlight tooling maintenance requirements to Tool room team promptly: Tooling downtime and breakdowns are minimised.
- Support machine minders during shift, working closely to ensure that changeovers and downtime are minimised and quality standards are maintained: Scrap, downtime and productivity standards are achieved.
- Run machines when tool changes and process monitoring is completed: Cover necessary breaks within the production area.
- Work closely with the Material Handler to ensure that materials availability is co-ordinated with changeovers and production schedules. Co-ordinate and lead his work when not on shift with the Production Supervisor: Machine downtime minimised due to material shortages.
- Ensure 5S standards are maintained and the workplace is kept clean and tidy: Production efficiency maximised with no incidents due to poor 5S standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Good basic standard of written and spoken English.
- Machinery/Engineering based qualification or time served experience.
- Proven, hands-on experience in an injection moulding production facility as a machine setter.
