Junior Hospital Engineer – (Electrical Bias) Location: KIMS Hospital, Maidstone, Kent Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 per annum About The Role We have an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified engineer with an Electrical Bias to join our dedicated Estates team at KIMS Hospital, the largest independent hospital in Kent. As a Hospital Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a safe and efficient engineering and compliance service, ensuring our facilities are maintained to the highest standard for our patients and staff. This role requires a proactive and flexible approach, including participation in an on-call rota. Role Responsibilities You will be completing electrical installations and alteration works in line with BS7671, carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and responsive repairs across the hospital site. The role includes working to statutory standards, including Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs), and contributing to capital and improvement works as required. You will also be required to support cross-functional Estates duties, ensuring compliance with hospital safety systems, such as Permit to Work procedures and risk assessments, and maintain secure and safe work environments at all times. In addition, you will be expected to liaise with internal teams and external contractors to ensure all work is delivered to the highest standard and within agreed timeframes. Participation in the on-call rota is essential, responding to urgent maintenance requirements outside normal working hours. What We’re Looking For To be successful in this role, you will need to have completed a recognised time-served apprenticeship and hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. You will have knowledge of electrical distribution systems, standby generation, fire alarms, and building management systems. You’ll be a strong team player, able to work under pressure, communicate effectively and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills. Previous experience working in a hospital or complex building services environment is desirable but not essential.
