Job Description
Zume is a boutique UK web hosting company built on one thing: obsessive, high-quality support. We\βre small, growing fast, and committed to doing things the right way. As a Senior Linux Support Engineer, you\βll take ownership of key systems and support processes.
This is a hands-on technical role focused on real-world usage: WordPress, cPanel/WHM, email, DNS, performance tuning, and site migrations.
Standard hours are 9β5, but we\βre a 24/7 operation. You\βll mostly work days, with flexibility for early, late, or weekend shifts if preferred.
What we\βre looking for
- Deep experience with cPanel/WHM and managing shared hosting environments
- Strong knowledge of WordPress performance, common issues, and plugin conflicts
- Excellent communication and customer support skills
- Ability to lead, improve processes, and mentor junior staff
- UK-based, ideally able to commute into Coventry on a hybrid basis
Nice to have
- Experience with other apps like Magento, Joomla, WooCommerce
- Proxmox/KVM or other virtualisation experience
- Mail and DNS deliverability expertise
- Experience in a hosting or MSP setting
- Scripting (Bash, Python) or config management (Ansible)
What you\βll be doing
- Supporting complex WordPress and cPanel/WHM issues
- Handling tickets via chat, phone, and email
- Migrating sites from various platforms (including non-cPanel hosts)
- Optimising web and database performance
- Supporting VPS infrastructure and shared hosting systems
- Troubleshooting WordPress issues, SSL, DNS, email problems, and more
- Working with cPanel/WHM, and helping with VPS and virtualisation where needed
- Suggesting ways to improve our tools, docs, and how we work
