Brief Description Design Subject Matter Expert [IP/MPLS] (Networking, Security, DevOps) We are seeking a self-motivated DevOps Engineer with Telecoms networking experience to join our team. As a key member, you will work independently or collaboratively with technical experts. The ideal candidate should have practical and a high level of proven technical expertise in the following areas: Templating and Automation : Knowledge of Python, Jinja2, Ansible, JSON, and DevOps Networking : Proficiency in ISIS, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, RSTP, and REP Security : Experience with Juniper SRX firewall cluster design, configuration, InterVRF routing, Security Policy design, IDS, IPS, VPN, and security best practices If you’ve got excellent verbal and written communication skills, you’re passionate about cutting-edge technologies and thrive in both independent and collaborative environments, we encourage you to apply! About the role (External) Main responsibilities: To deliver technical leadership and technical expertise for the delivery of all Network Rail telecoms services. Provide an expert capability providing technical consultancy and direction to Network Rail, delivery Supply Chain, Telecoms, Signalling, Power networks and platforms. What will you be doing? Identify, innovate, and help drive the Network roadmap in liaison with the strategy, Architecture, product and service departments. Provide the principles and process around the IP network in terms of network topology configuration, acceptance and operations and deliver design in accordance with the Network Architecture. Provide tier 4 support in complex network faults and undertake laboratory testing for new and existing solutions to provide consistent, robust design deliverables to customers Report on and monitor capacity trending and plan IP network upgrades accordingly. Provide technical Design consultancy to NRT projects and customers as required. Identify network infrastructure opportunities for the implementation of technical improvements that add value to the business through achievement of \’better, faster, cheaper\’ infrastructure, based on current and future requirements. To anticipate internal and external business challenges and to be proactive with recommending new technical requirements or improvements to existing projects. Create and maintain the HL and LL design standards and templates . To undertake the role of CRE for design for specific NR Projects. The ideal candidate Meet the essential criteria? Apply today to join our team Substantial experience in IP/MPLS engineering or operations within a telecoms environment. Architect technical knowledge level of IP networks as well as an awareness of protection architectures and the different overlying service types such as IP/MPLS and Voice Delivery of carrier class IP network services; ideally with CISCO, Alcatel-Lucent and Juniper. Educated to degree standard or equivalent in a technical subject. Knowledge of Cramer and OSS within a telecoms environment. Knowledge of network design and operation supporting Rail or Critical National Infrastructure (CNI). Knowledge of optical management systems and optical planning tools. Formal network certifications but not limited to (CCNP/CCDP/CCIE/CCDE). Project management certification (Prince).
