Position Details

  • Full time starting salary is normally in the range £27,166 to £28,768, with potential progression once in post to £32,145
  • Grade: 4
  • Part Time (18 hours per week)
  • Fixed Term contract up to September 2025

Role Summary

To provide proactive administrative support in the relevant department, working as part of a team or on own initiative. You will have the ability to manage your work without needing to refer to others for most of your time. In order to flexibly use resource you may be given the opportunity to work in different areas of the department or wider University.

This role will work in Registry and provide support to the Curriculum Management Team by managing the administrative workload in a professional and proactive manner. The main responsibility of the Curriculum Management Team is to provide maintenance and assurance of the University’s curriculum data, providing reporting, and maintaining databases to ensure curriculum information is compliant with CMA, Student Loan Company and HESA requirements.

Main Duties

  • Act as a point of contact to provide accurate and timely information and advice to internal and external customers and stakeholders on University processes and procedures.
  • Regularly communicate relevant information to students, staff and external contacts.
  • Provide administrative support for diary or event planning.
  • Process data, monitoring accuracy, chasing up missing information, and escalating any issues as appropriate.
  • Use a variety of complex University systems and processes to research, manipulate, analyse and interpret sets of data, and produce routine reports.
  • Maintain working relationship with key stakeholders, fielding queries, receiving and dealing with any disputes or complaints and resolving promptly.
  • Review processes and tasks and proactively offer suggestions for improvement and sharing best practice as appropriate.
  • Provide a professional secretarial service to relevant committees and meetings as required.
  • Support equality and values diversity, moderating own behaviour to avoid unfair discriminatory impact or bias on others.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • GCSEs to a minimum of grade C in English and Mathematics (or equivalent level 2 qualification).
  • Good IT skills with working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to take responsibility for specific tasks, carrying out duties without needing to refer to others.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others.
  • Well organised with the ability to prioritise work proactively, independently and as part of a team.
  • A good understanding of how to deliver excellent customer service.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • An understanding of the importance of equality and diversity in the workplace.

Dimensions

You will not be required to line manage anyone in this role or manage a budget.

Planning and Organising

You will be required to manage and prioritise a varied workload to deliver within required time frames.

Problem Solving and Decision Making

You will be working under the direction of a senior manager, but with the autonomy to deliver the outputs required.

Internal and External Relationships

This role will be liaising with internal colleagues and stakeholders, and external stakeholders as well with an expectation on maintaining good working relationships with all.
