The job itself This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Special Educational Needs and Disability Assessment and Review Team (SENDART). We are passionate about promoting high aspirations and expectations for children and young people and we are now seeking a like-minded individual (or individuals) to join our team to support the growing number of children and young people in the East Riding with SEND (0-25 years) and their families. The post holder/s will help us meet our statutory duties in relation to EHC plans and the high expectations we have set ourselves to ensure that young people aged 16 plus have access to the right pathway and support through effective Preparation for Adulthood (PfA). The post holder/s will help ensure that SENDART is able to provide both a timely and quality service, to secure the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND. The person we are looking for will be dedicated, organised and solution focused. To be successful in the role, you will be resilient, skilled in conflict resolution, problem solving and able to manage the pressures of competing demands on your time. As an Education, Health and Care Officer (EHCO), will join a busy, fast paced team working closely with the families of children and young people with SEND, education settings and a wide range of professionals to ensure the effective completion of statutory processes and casework. You will produce high quality EHC Plans and facilitate the timely completion of annual reviews, working with relevant professionals in education, health and social care services, and other relevant disciplines, to ensure their knowledge, experience, skills and relevant assessments inform EHC Plans. You will develop and strengthen relationships with post 16 education providers to help drive up practice standards in the best interests of the children and young people with SEND. You will have a degree or equivalent, preferably in a related field, and have experience of working with children, young people with SEND and their families. You will be expected to have a sound understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) Agenda or demonstrate a desire to attain this once in post.
