JOB CONTEXT Profit Protection is an independent, objective function designed to add value and reduce loss. The Digital Fraud Investigator manages our fraud prevention software to minimise fraudulent transactions, chargebacks, and maximise sales by identifying fraudulent transactions and optimising the fraud ruleset. The role collaborates with IT, Digital, Support Centre functions, and Field teams to raise awareness and prevent fraud, and to identify faults or issues across the platform and eCommerce sites to maximise sales conversion rates. The role also manages and leads a team from the Customer Services call centre to aid in identifying fraudulent transactions on our MOTO channel. Collaboration with the Police on external investigations may also be required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Key responsibilities include: Using analytical skills to identify trends and interpret complex data streams across multiple sources. Identifying fraudulent transactions and their networks, and blocking them from eCommerce platforms. Understanding patterns of fraudulent transactions and adjusting the fraud ruleset to prevent future frauds. Ensuring fraud prevention rules do not affect genuine customers. Working quickly and effectively with multiple stakeholders. Negotiating and influencing stakeholders. Working under pressure and being self-motivated. Prioritising workload with strong organisational skills. Knowledge of criminal law and the Data Protection Act. Experience with Data Mining tools or online fraud prevention tools. Building relationships with other retailers and forums, e.g., OCR and ECR.
