This role will focus on: The role of Buyer is to work on several projects to help achieve operational purchasing objectives. Raising manual purchase orders for both indirect and direct goods such as stock items, fittings, consumables, and maintenance parts from the department inbox. Negotiating the best price and lead times from suppliers. Identifying and leading opportunities within the business for innovation, cost savings, waste reduction, and continuous improvement. Reducing the number of day-to-day requisitions and utilizing the stock system. Managing and setting up contracts. Obtaining quotes for requesting departments and updating stock cards. Completing the daily low stock sheet. Quarterly usage checks on export orders to maintain correct quantities. Ensuring orders are placed in a timely manner, managing lead times and delivery schedules. Rationalizing the number of suppliers through category management. Updating cost savings and increases. Following company policies and procedures to the highest standard. To be successful in this role, you will need: CIPS / IoSCM qualification would be beneficial. Experience with contracting. Technical knowledge in a buying role. Experience in manufacturing and engineering buying. Experience of implementing change. Knowledge of raw materials such as Steel, PTFE, EPDM, Silicone, etc., would be beneficial. Ability to effectively use computer and communication technology such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and Excel. Strong planning and organization skills. Ability to build relationships with stakeholders. Self-motivated and capable of decision-making. Strong communication and time management skills.
