Are you a driven and hands-on Operations Manager with a background in precision engineering? We are recruiting for a leading engineering firm based in Rochdale, known for delivering high-quality CNC machining and welding solutions. As they continue to grow, we are looking for a talented individual to lead their operations and help take the business to the next level.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and Board of Directors, you'll take ownership of daily operations across CNC machining, welding, and fabrication. Your leadership will be key in improving production efficiency, developing the skilled teams, and ensuring they continue to meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations across turning, milling, MIG and TIG welding, and fabrication.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop production planning, scheduling, and performance metrics (KPIs).
  • Manage and develop multidisciplinary teams including machinists and welders.
  • Ensure full compliance with HSE standards, conducting audits and risk assessments.
  • Support strategic planning, resource investment, and adoption of new technologies.
  • Liaise with senior leadership to align operations with business objectives.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in an operations leadership role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining (turning & milling), ideally with FANUC machine experience.
  • Knowledge of MIG and TIG welding processes.
  • Familiarity with reading engineering drawings and using CAD/CAM systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset with a passion for team development and operational excellence.

Desirable but Not Essential

  • Engineering qualification (HNC/HND or above).
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
