Smart Metering sits as a key enabler of a net-zero energy system and there has never been a more important time for ensuring that smart meters and the supporting Smart Energy Code (SEC) arrangements are fit for the future. The parties to the SEC are at the forefront of developments that will allow energy consumers to make better use of their energy and reduce their energy bills, whilst ensuring more efficient use of the energy system and assets.
At the heart of decarbonising the UK economy, the energy sector is an exciting place to be. SECCo is arguably one of the most important bodies in ensuring we achieve the UK’s low-carbon goals.
The SECCo Executive Team have been tasked to build its own team of dedicated, and enthusiastic subject matter experts to work alongside the existing SEC code administrator (SECAS) to improve the service and value we provide to SEC Parties.
About the Role
We’re recruiting a Strategy Analyst to join our Code and Regulatory Strategy Team at SECCo. This role supports the Senior Strategy Manager across a wide range of strategic and regulatory activities that underpin the smart metering ecosystem. You’ll help shape how the Smart Energy Code evolves to support innovation, efficiency, and consumer benefit as the UK moves toward a net-zero energy system. This is a great opportunity to build your experience in energy policy, regulation, and strategy in a dynamic and high-impact environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Policy and Regulatory Analysis; Thought Leadership
- Research and summarise relevant policy, regulatory, market, and technology developments
- Draft internal briefings and strategic reports
- Support the development of SECCo’s positions on regulatory and strategic issues
- Provide research and analysis to support horizon scanning and intelligence-gathering on emerging issues
- Support the Senior Strategy Manager and Strategy team in implementing strategic initiatives and workplans
- Co-ordinate inputs from across the team for strategy reviews and planning exercises
- Support the preparation of strategic presentations and documents
- Co-ordinate preparation of slide decks, briefings and notes for stakeholder engagement
- Attend relevant industry meetings, capturing and sharing key insights with the team
- Support stakeholder engagement by maintaining records and tracking interactions
- Prepare summary updates, charts, and visuals to communicate key insights clearly
- Contribute to internal and external reports and publications
- Co-ordinate the delivery of defined work packages within strategic projects
- Apply clear frameworks to manage workload and timelines
What you’ll bring
- 1–3 years of experience in policy, strategy, research, or analytical roles (public or private sector)
- Strong research and written communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise content
- Ability to present complex information clearly and succinctly
- Proven ability to manage time and prioritise tasks across multiple workstreams
- Interest in energy policy, innovation, and the transition to Net Zero
- Understanding of the GB energy system or regulatory framework is an advantage but not essential
