Equans are recruiting for an Apprentice Electrician to be based in Leeds. This is a 48-month Apprenticeship working 4 days per week and a day at college. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. General Overview: The Apprentice Electrician is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within construction projects. Working under the supervision of qualified electricians, the apprentice will gain hands-on experience while completing formal training and assessments to achieve recognised electrical qualifications. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that electrical work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required industry standards. Key Accountabilities Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems in accordance with industry regulations and company standards. Learn to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications. Follow health and safety procedures, including the use of appropriate PPE, risk assessments, and safe working practices. Support in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical faults under supervision. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure efficiency and safety on-site. Attend training and development courses, both practical and theoretical, to work towards qualification as a fully trained electrician. Work collaboratively with site teams, contractors, and supervisors to ensure smooth project delivery. Comply with all company policies, site regulations, and industry legislation. Essential: A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, Grade 4 (C) or above. Willingness to undertake an industry-recognised electrical apprenticeship (e.g., Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation). Strong interest in electrical work and a practical, hands-on approach to learning. Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and adhere to safety regulations. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Physical ability to carry out manual work in a construction environment. Desirable: Previous experience in a construction or engineering-related role (e.g., work experience, summer job, or college course). Understanding of basic electrical principles and components. CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card or willingness to obtain one. Who are we?
