St Columba’s School is situated in the beautiful Renfrewshire countryside just 30 minutes from Glasgow. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated support worker to join our dynamic Early Years team at St Columba’s School, Kilmacolm. As a valued member of our wider school community, you will help provide nurturing and effective support to children aged 3–5 years within our Early Years Department. The role involves assisting in the delivery of high-quality learning experiences in line with the Curriculum for Excellence and Realising the Ambition, supporting snack and lunch-time routines and promoting the health and wellbeing of our children, who benefit from being part of our all-through school environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead snack and lunchtime routines, while ensuring all food hygiene and safety procedures are followed in accordance with the School’s policies and Care Inspectorate guidelines.
  • Promote healthy eating and independence skills by creating a calm, supportive environment where children can enjoy their snack and lunch safely and socially.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality play and learning experiences that foster curiosity, individual development, and holistic growth in line with the Curriculum for Excellence, through active observation, interaction and responsive engagement with children.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment by working collaboratively with the Early Years Team to support each child’s needs, promote self-esteem and confidence, and ensure every child feels valued and engaged.
  • Assist with personal care routines while promoting independence, encouraging children to manage tasks such as dressing, toileting, hand washing, tooth brushing and using cutlery confidently and safely.
  • Work as part of the nursery team to help with daily tasks such as setting up and caring for resources, while supporting discussions about children’s development.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with children, parents, and staff, sharing important information and helping to support positive relationships and partnerships.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

- Term Time Working Hours:

  • Monday: 10.00am-3.00pm
  • Tuesday: 10.00am – 3.00pm
  • Wednesday: 9.45am – 2.45pm
  • Thursday: 9.45am-2.45pm
  • Friday: 9.45-2.45pm

Salary - £13,309 for 25 hours per week. We are ideally seeking a flexible individual eager to work until 6pm each Wednesday and Friday and be open to the opportunities for further hours during holiday clubs. This role is regulated by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and registration will be required within 6 months of appointment if not already registered.
