Here at Evotec we are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Manager to work within Early Formulation & Deveolpability, joining the team at our campus in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK The Laboratory Manager, Early Formulation & Developability, will lead a team of about 8 people to deliver early formulation services for standalone and integrated projects within the company\’s pharmaceutical and preclinical development business line. The successful candidate will have extensive technical and scientific experience in physico-chemical characterisation and formulation development and screening, particularly for oral and parenteral routes of administration. Located in Abingdon, Oxford, UK, the early formulation department offers technologies and expertise to address the most challenging New Chemical Entities (NCEs). The department focuses on early formulations for rapid first dosing in toxicology as well as quick screening of formulation approaches for Phase I trials, with a major emphasis on bio availability enhancing technologies. Role: Laboratory Manager Early Formulation & Developability Role Type: Permanent Hours: Full time,40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Salary: Competitive salary, plus excellent company benefits Location: Milton Park, Abingdon (onsite role) Role & Responsibilities Lead and manage all laboratory functions, including maintenance of laboratory facilities and equipment, staff development, and annual reviews. Create an environment that fosters high performance. You will recruit, motivate, develop and nurture talented individuals for leadership and succession roles within the team. Provide technical leadership to implement new technologies and state-of-the-art equipment, with particular focus on enabling drug delivery technologies. In addition, to promote innovation and scientific understanding of Formulation Development & Developability activities, i.e. identifying best practices, processes, and quality improvements to add value to Evotec’s integrated solutions. Review and release client project reports, prepare/support and approve protocols, reports, SOPs, and other documents, and ensure timely reporting of formulation work to customers. Establish and foster good interactions with other departments within Evotec to provide a coherent one-stop shop for stand-alone and integrated development projects. Plan resources effectively, collaborating with other groups, to ensure systems and resources support workloads to deliver projects according to predefined scientific objectives, budgets, and timelines. Ensure metrics for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and EHS are met and recommend process improvements when required. Manage budgets at the project and department levels, including outsourcing budgets. The manager will also be responsible for providing monthly forecast input to the PMO team with the support of Project Leaders and control against actuals. The Person MSc in Life Sciences; MSc in Pharmaceutical Technology is a plus. Previous experience in Early Formulation Development; CRO/CMO experience preferred. Proven leadership and team management experience. Expertise in several Formulation Technologies with experience in Parenteral and Oral Delivery (including enabling technologies); Expertise in Physical properties and characterisation and Analytics Understanding and expertise in clinical formulation development is a plus. Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Drug Development; Preclinical Development is a plus. Understanding of GMP and pharmaceutical regulations. Excellent time management and multitasking abilities with strong planning and organisational skills. Self-managing, assertive, and responsible. Detail-oriented with critical data review and feedback capabilities. Superior communication skills leading to effective interactions with the team, internal departments, other sites, and customers. Accountability for team performance. Strong team player.
