Bilfinger UK are looking for candidates to join the business as an apprenticeship in Installation Electrician and Maintenance Electrician to install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial environments. The aim of the Apprenticeship in Construction and the Built Environment is to attract and develop talent in Electrical Installation.
Electricians will use engineering knowledge and understanding to apply their technical and practical skills. They will contribute to the design, development, manufacture, construction, commissioning, operation or maintenance of products, equipment, processes, systems or services.
Installation Electricians work on the installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of low voltage electrical and electronic devices and appliances. Maintenance Electricians work on the maintenance of electrical and electronic installations including automated production systems. Duties include the supervision of the equipment, maintenance and repairs.
Electricians must understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems. Alongside this, they may contribute to the design of electrical systems.
Electricians organise the work environment and might work in both indoor and outdoor settings. Electrical equipment and systems may include switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, fault current protection switches, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment as well as crime and fire alarm systems.
Qualifications & Personal Qualities
- Nat 5 or equivalent (Grade C or better) in English Language and Mathematics is essential.
- Individuals must be able to demonstrate a willingness and passion to develop skills within industry, be hardworking, confident and organised.
- Individuals need to have good communication skills, both written and verbal, IT skills, number skills, analytical skills, demonstrate attention to detail, logical attitude and be a team player.
- Being able to work reliably and effectively without close supervision is also important.
