Starting salary £49,123pa with potential progression to £52,279pa on achieving designated skills and experience 37 hours per week (hybrid working) We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated professional to lead the Council’s procurement service .This is an exciting opportunity to oversee and manage procurements for a wide variety of projects and services. Reporting to the Assistant Director (Law and Governance) you will be supported by a procurement officer and have a lead role in progressing procurements for key projects and services .You will provide professional procurement advice to senior officers and Members on all aspects of contracts and procurements. This is a hugely rewarding post, as you will lead the procurement service through its continued development by having an influential role in the development and evolution of the Council’s procurement strategy, processes and practices .This requires a strong background in public procurement focusing on achieving compliance and best value.You will need to draw from your technical knowledge and understanding to help the Council secure continuous improvement in the delivery of services to residents . You must be an excellent manager, capable of continuing and developing a high-performing service to ensure that Council departments are well supported in all procurements . You will also need to be a dynamic and highly motivated individual, with experience and knowledge of public procurement within local government, local government decision – making and the ability and confidence to work strategically . About you: This is a key management position within the department and in addition to essential management skills we are looking for someone who can lead and inspire departments to achieve best practice and outcomes for procurements .We need a person with excellent interpersonal, communication and IT skills, strong attention to detail, a solution-focussed approach and an ability to engage in a variety of departmental and corporate initiatives .
