Urgent Platinum & Partners has been asked by our client who is a leading financial services firm to identify a high-calibre Event Driven Analyst to join their London-based team. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a top-tier equity markets division that services a global institutional client base, including hedge funds and asset managers.
The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying and analysing special situations—particularly North American merger arbitrage—and communicating actionable insights to clients at the highest level.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and evaluate US-focused event-driven situations with hard and soft catalysts, with emphasis on merger arbitrage
- Track and interpret breaking news, press releases and deal announcements in real-time
- Produce concise updates and analysis for internal teams and institutional clients
- Deliver idea-driven insights in collaboration with sales and trading desks
- Engage directly with company management, deal advisors, journalists and sector experts to enhance deal insight
- Attend corporate events and conferences as needed
- Undertake fundamental equity valuation and financial modelling
- Collaborate with internal Long/Short and Index Event teams to share intelligence and trading ideas
- Participate in ad hoc project work and research assignments as required
- Commercially driven mindset with strong intellectual curiosity
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence interacting at senior levels (including Board/C-suite)
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to idea generation
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit
- Flexibility to work extended hours when required
- Ideally you will have sell side experience
- Minimum of 3 years' post-training experience in investment banking or similar analytical role
- Exposure to event-driven, M&A, or private equity situations is highly desirable
- Deep understanding of the US equity market and macroeconomic landscape
- Strong Excel skills; familiarity with Bloomberg preferred
- Background in financial modelling and valuation analysis
