Wetherby School Kensington offers gold-standard private education for boys aged 4 to 8. As part of London’s most exclusive and academically intensive pre-prep, Wetherby School, we help boys to unlock their full potential with a world-class early education programme, underpinned by a vision and commitment to establishing unlimited possibilities for their growth.

We are now looking for an exceptional Head of Music to join us from September 2025. This is a part time role, 3 full days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday). This role plays a vital role in planning, preparing, and delivering the music curriculum, ensuring that lessons are engaging, inclusive, and tailored to the needs of all children.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To teach classroom music to all boys in the school and ensure an engaging, stimulating and relevant learning environment is created.
  • Promote excellence in teaching and learning to ensure all boys develop their potential.
  • To create interesting and imaginative schemes of work for music.
  • Ensure a diverse range and style of music making is promoted and that boys have the opportunity to explore a variety of music genres.
  • Organise the scheduling of peripatetic music lessons including communicating with parents and staff as necessary.
  • Line management responsibility for the teaching staff in the music department and visiting music teachers.
  • Monitor and manage the music department’s allocated budget and purchasing arrangements to ensure the efficient and effective use of all resources.
  • Arrange concerts and other performance opportunities at all levels.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • A good standard of education at degree level or above.
  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Excellent subject knowledge.
  • Experience of teaching a balanced and academically ambitious lessons.
  • Proven track record of outstanding teaching of Music.
  • Expert knowledge of music theory, composition, and performance.
  • Experience leading ensembles, choirs, and productions.
