ROLE DESCRIPTION: This is a contract, remote role for a Senior Gameplay Programmer at Segritude Games. In this role, you’ll work closely with designers, artists, and other developers to bring gameplay mechanics to life. As a senior team member, you’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing core gameplay systems while also mentoring junior programmers and contributing to high-level technical decisions. Your work will play a key role in shaping an engaging player experience, ensuring smooth performance, and meeting project goals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with game designers to understand the multiplayer gameplay requirements and translate them into technical specifications and efficient code. Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance multiplayer systems, including networking, synchronization, and server-side logic. Implement gameplay mechanics, player interactions, and game rules for seamless multiplayer experiences. Identify and resolve networking issues, latency problems, and other multiplayer-related challenges to ensure a smooth online experience for players. Work closely with the game design team to prototype and iterate on multiplayer features, gathering feedback and implementing improvements. Collaborate with other programmers and technical designers to integrate gameplay features into the overall game architecture. Conduct thorough testing of multiplayer systems and debug any issues or bugs that arise during development. Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and maintain code quality and best practices. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Proven experience as a Gameplay Programmer in the video game industry, with a focus on multiplayer game development. Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 and its multiplayer capabilities. Excellent knowledge of C++ and Blueprints scripting for game development within Unreal Engine. Familiarity with different multiplayer architectures, such as client-server and peer-to-peer. Experience with optimizing multiplayer systems for performance, latency, and bandwidth constraints. Solid understanding of game design principles and mechanics, and the ability to translate design requirements into technical implementations. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills to identify and address technical issues promptly. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, communicate effectively, and provide constructive feedback. Passion for video games and a strong interest in multiplayer game development. Preferred Qualifications: •Experience with source control systems, such as Git or Perforce. •Knowledge of Unreal Engine C++. •Knowledge of Blueprints scripting systems in Unreal Engine.
