The practice benefits from a purpose-built, fully climate-controlled surgery, with ongoing investment in advanced equipment and staff training. A dedicated 24/7 on-site emergency team of vets and nurses ensures continuity of care and a familiar face for pets during stressful times. Working Hours / Rota The position is for a night veterinary surgeon working a 7 days on, 21 days off rota. The night shifts are manageable and not overly busy, with the vet supported overnight by a registered veterinary nurse (RVN) who remains on-site to assist with patient care and emergencies. Role Description The night vet will be responsible for delivering high-quality emergency care, monitoring inpatients, and providing surgical support including routine and non-routine surgeries. You will work closely with an experienced RVN during the night, ensuring excellent patient monitoring and care. The role involves independent decision-making with nursing support, covering medical, surgical, and diagnostic cases in small animals and exotics. There is scope for clinical development and participation in advanced diagnostics such as CT imaging and laser therapy treatments. Team Size The hospital team includes 9 veterinarians, 8 registered veterinary nurses (RVNs), and 2 student veterinary nurses (SVNs), fostering a collaborative and friendly working atmosphere. Practice Details The practice boasts two dedicated operating theatres equipped with full monitoring including ECG, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, capnography, and heated operating tables. Anaesthetic protocols are tailored individually with use of Sevoflurane . Hospitalisation facilities feature separate wards for cats, dogs, and exotic species with isolation areas and a secure dog run for exercise. The diagnostic suite includes digital and dental x-rays, ultrasound with Doppler, blood pressure and ECG monitoring, and an on-site CT scanner for advanced 3D imaging. The laboratory provides rapid blood and urine analysis with minimal sample volumes. Additional services include hip and elbow scoring, dental care, nebulisation, oxygen therapy, pregnancy scans, neonatal care, and laser therapy for pain management.
