This role requires extensive experience of power electronics design aligned to e-mobility (electrified powertrain) applications - land / sea or air. Engineers should be able to take products through the design lifecycle to validated prototype.
Key elements:
- Technical leadership, customer facing and relationship management capability
- Power electronics design and development (electric powertrain systems) - essential
- Design of inverters, AC/DC or DC/DC converters, or OBCs for electric powertrain / vehicle applications or clean energy applications (typically from 60V to a few kV) - this is essential experience
Working in a customer centric organisation you will be involved with taking power electronics designs from concept (blank page) to optimised prototypes, typically for e-mobility / electric vehicle applications but could also include clean energy applications (e.g. inverter / motor controller, DCDC converter, OBC, etc).
More:
- Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer.
The role could suit an engineer with at least 8-10 years of relevant industry experience or more.
Candidates should have:
- Strong communication skills (used to working directly with customers)
- Excellent track record in the design of power electronics (power inverters, AC/DC or DC/DC converters, or switch mode power supplies (SMPS)) for e-mobility / vehicle electrification or clean energy applications
- Experience of designing digital and mixed signal control and interface circuit design would be great.
- Experience of PCB layout using tools such as Altium, etc, would be great.
The company is involved with the design of electric drivetrain systems for e-mobility and clean energy applications (e.g. automotive electric vehicle etc). Candidates need experience of variable speed drives, DC-AC traction motors, PMSM control, DC-DC converters or OBC, etc.
Required experience / skills:
- Senior / Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer
- Degree / masterβs degree in electrical, electronic engineering, etc)
- Strong communication skills (used to working directly with customers)
- Experience of leading projects and technically leading would be required.
- Extensive power electronics design ability (power inverters, AC/DC or DC/DC converters, or SMPS) for e-mobility applications (automotive / marine electric vehicles) or similar
- Experience of inverters / SMPS for vehicle electrification, motor control, or similar would be preferred (automotive, aerospace, marine, etc)
- Good practical engineering aptitude including the development of power electronics hardware in a lab, rig and vehicle environment for demanding applications.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, customer centric environment.
Beneficial:
- Power Electronics Design Engineer
- Development of systems in the simulation environment, HiL systems, etc
- Experience of designing digital and mixed signal control and interface circuit design
- Experience of thermal management / cooling of power electronics systems would be great.
