About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Web Designer to collaborate with our digital design team. This role is ideal for an experienced designer who thrives in a flexible, contract-based environment and can deliver world-class, interactive web experiences. You will work closely with clients, lead design projects, and push creative boundaries through advanced web interactions and motion prototypes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Web Interaction Leadership: Create sophisticated web interactions, animations, scroll effects, and micro-interactions that elevate user experience.
  • Motion Prototyping: Design and develop dynamic motion prototypes that bring digital experiences to life.
  • Client Collaboration: Confidently present design concepts, interactive solutions, and motion prototypes to clients.
  • Cross-Functional Engagement: Work closely with UX designers, developers, and marketing teams to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Project Oversight: Manage multiple freelance projects, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Mentorship & Thought Leadership: Share expertise and mentor junior designers where needed to drive creative excellence.
  • Accessibility & Performance: Ensure all designs comply with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) and are optimised for performance.
  • User-Centric Approach: Apply user-centred design principles to create intuitive, engaging, and responsive digital experiences.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Senior Digital Designer or Lead Web Designer, ideally in a freelance or contract capacity.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD for interface and prototyping design.
  • Expertise in motion prototyping tools such as Protopie, Framer, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to collaborate effectively with developers.
  • Deep knowledge of UX/UI best practices, including responsive design and accessibility standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and articulate design decisions clearly.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience with Webflow, Framer, or EditorX for no-code prototyping.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles.
  • Strong storytelling abilities through design and motion.
  • Experience in user testing and gathering actionable insights.
